Vanja Smailović is a Research Engineer at Ericsson Nikola Tesla R&D Centre and an External Associate at the Department of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.

He received his B.Sc. degree in Computing at the Department of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in 2009, as well as M.Sc. degree in 2011. The same year he enrolled in the postgraduate study (PhD) at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and is currently in his final year of the doctoral programme.

He participates as a principal researcher in the project “Ericsson Context-Aware Social Networking for Mobile Media” funded by the World Bank through Unity Through Knowledge Fund, contracted by Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Unity Through Knowledge Fund. Additionally, he participates as a technical co-ordinator in a industrial research project “A Platform for Context-Aware Social Networking of Mobile Users (SmartSocial)”, contracted between Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and Ericsson Nikola Tesla R&D Centre.
